What will you eat? Where will you stay?
The economy in Ukraine is up and running outside the battle zones including hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.
What’s your plan?
Richards left from Boston on March 28th headed for Warsaw and on the 30th he went on to Ukraine. For more see our blog. The documentary’s shoots are largely “Guerilla” style with daily shoots and photos on Steve’s new iPhone 13 uploaded and edited in Kathmandu, then married to blog posts from in Boston, then shared on social media. Longer interviews/shoots are being recorded on SIM cards and will be included in the feature film with additional video and audio equipment being brought along.

What are you bringing?
- We go armed with a video camera, tripod, new iPhone, Apple Watch, Chromebook, a radioactivity warning device, and a battery pack with all associated cables
- Backpack
- Clothes
- Bedding
- Toiletries
- Etc.
What types of things do you hope to document?
- Check our blog. We have already documented a wide variety of stories and territory.
- We hope to bring different and additional perspectives by getting out of the train stations and battle zones. We figure the more perspectives the better. 40M+ of the original 44 million or so citizens are still in Ukraine. This is an opportunity to add a little color from their story.
- The Christian community and the theological impacts of little appreciated historical beliefs and religions.
- The chance to tell stories and highlight people that are truly inspiring and fighting for their their liberty.
Personal Reasons
- Trying to make a good film that is worth the resources and bringing a Ukraine message worldwide
- Bringing a message of support, respect, and friendship to the Ukrainians from the USA and west in general…and hard currency.
- Helping those he meets and looking for outlets that we identify for direct donations from our supporters.
- In the end we plan to help the economy and the people of Ukraine is as many ways as we can
- Calling
- Exercise - Richards' doctor said he needed some
- Going on a lot of faith. Lord’s Prayer and guardian angel Father Yaroslav called on for me.
- A personal connection – The fight for liberty is ubiquitous in the human DNA. It makes you cry when we see the Ukrainians pushing the Russians back in Kiev.
When will the documentary be ready?
- We are in production and plan to finish and release a finished feature film ASAP; perhaps as early as June 2022.
- We have enough to get started but will need resources TBD.
- Only when the air raid sirens go off.
- Food is not hard to find in Ukraine. Restaurants are difficult to find open in Kyiv and its Western suburbs at least though restaurants are beginning to reopen.
