As we close out a daunting 2020, join us in celebrating the holidays with the Christians in Nepal with the 2nd annual holiday screenings of A Kathmandu Christmas. We will be streaming the film internationally via Zoom.
In this short documentary (run time 40 minutes) we spend the holidays with our Christian brothers and sisters in the Kathmandu Valley and remote villages, providing a first-hand perspective from the Christian minority in this Hindu-dominated country. From a caroling session to Sunday School on Saturdays, we visit the National Theological College seminary and attend an outdoor baptism ceremony, a Christmas pageant of Nepali school kids and a nativity performance on Christmas day. We visit the villages and see how far-flung remote Christian communities celebrate the season. It’s all fascinating and might just help us in the West feel a little better about our current state of affairs as we empathize with the struggles of our compatriots in Nepal - in ways we might find surprising. All screenings are preceded by an introduction from the production team including Steve Richards (author of Economics in the Gospels and Managing Director of TheoEco) as well as a Q&A afterwards with those featured in the film directly from Nepal. |
